Arlene Sensei

Arlene Sensei, Godan

Aikido is more than a martial art, it is a way to move with the world. A lifelong practice of movement, awareness, discipline, and connection.

In 2009, she founded Henderson Aikido, creating a welcoming, non-competitive dojo where students of all levels can learn, train, and grow.

Dave Sempai, Nidan

Instructor

After years of traveling the world and training at many dojos, David put down roots in Southern Nevada in 2012 and committed to supporting the Henderson Aikido & Yoga community. Dave especially enjoys weapons practice and the technical aspects of Aikido.

Outside the dojo, he holds a PhD in Biology and Ecology and is a professor. His curiosity and passion for learning naturally extend to his Aikido practice, where he enjoys exploring movement, technique, and the principles of the art.

Blaze sempai of Henderson Aikido & Yoga

Blaze Sempai, Nidan

Instructor

Joining us from California in 2012, Blaze brought with him a background in Judo and Shotokan Karate. His years of martial arts have shaped his approach to Aikido. He strives to make every movement clear, precise, and beautiful.

Outside the dojo, Blaze is a CPA. His analytical mindset and attention to detail naturally carry into his Aikido practice, where he enjoys exploring the balance between precision, efficiency, and flow.

Chance Sempai, Nidan

Instructor

A friendly and attentive instructor, Chance enjoys helping with both our kids and adult program and guiding students as they build confidence, awareness, and a strong foundation in Aikido.

Outside the dojo, Chance works in IT, where he applies the principles of Aikido in customer-facing situations every day. For him, Aikido extends beyond the mat, shaping how he communicates, listens, and connects with others.

Thao Sempai, Shodan

Instructor

With a background in Kung Fu, Thao was drawn to Aikido for its smooth movements and non-confrontational approach. She also appreciates its emphasis on natural body movement and alignment, which continues to influence her practice.

Outside the dojo, Thao is a highly experienced and sought-after massage therapist. She can often be found generously shares her knowledge and expertise with our community.

Yacob sempai of Henderson Aikido & Yoga

Yacob Sempai, Shodan

Instructor

Yacob began his Aikido journey with us as a teenager, bringing a background in Shotokan Karate and a strong drive to learn. Over time, he grew from an inquisitive student into a capable instructor who enjoys both the art of Aikido and the friendships and connections built on the mat.

Outside the dojo, Yacob is pursuing several IT certifications while continuing to develop and grow as an instructor.

Conrad, Sempai 1st Kyu

Assistant Instructor

Conrad came to Aikido with a background in Karate, drawn to its dynamic movement, precision, and focus on timing and control. He enjoys the community atmosphere of the dojo and the opportunity to help others grow in their practice.

Outside the dojo, Conrad works as a pharmacist and diving instructor, bringing the same attention to precision, awareness, and helping others into his professional and recreational pursuits.
