A different kind of martial art.
A different kind of community.
Our story
Henderson Aikido & Yoga was established in 2009 with clear and simple goals:
Open a full-time Aikido dojo for the Southern Nevada community.
Provide the highest-quality Aikido instruction for adults, teens, children, and families.
Help our students excel both on the mat and in their daily lives.
Since opening our doors, we have continued to achieve these goals, over and over, thanks to the dedication and support of our students, families, friends, and community.
Our Purpose
Since 2009, Henderson Aikido & Yoga has been Southern Nevada’s home for Aikido and Yoga.
We are a community dedicated to the physical practice, philosophical principles, and real-world applications of the Japanese martial art of Aikido, complemented by the balancing and restorative qualities of Yoga.
We believe in better living through movement, developing strength, awareness, balance, and resilience both on the mat and in everyday life.
Our students and highly qualified teachers come together to learn, grow, and deepen their practice.
So, What Exactly Is Aikido?
Rooted in Tradition. Built for Today.
Aikido is a Japanese martial art with deep roots in traditional Japanese culture and the principles of Budo. We honor that tradition while making the practice relevant to modern life.
Aikido teaches balance, awareness, timing, and control. Rather than meeting force with force, students learn to use movement and positioning to redirect an attack and restore balance.
Through partner practices, students develop the ability to stay centered under pressure, respond rather than react, and move with greater intention and awareness.
Aikido is more than techniques.
It’s martial arts training, but the goal isn’t to defeat someone. It is to develop yourself, both on the mat and in everyday life.

A welcoming dojo for all ages and ability levels. Sensei Arlene and the black belts she has trained are very knowledgeable and are excellent instructors. Training is always done with safety in mind. I'm not afraid of getting injured and can enjoy the beautiful movements of Aikido.
